This book on the work of Uta Reinhardt is focused entirely on her painting. Through its fine colour reproductions,
it draws the viewer into her enigmatic pictorial world of situation painting.

Uta Reinhardtís compositions are compelling. Her paintings, most of which feature human or animal figures, cause
the viewer to try to understand what is happening on the canvas. Figures, some only partly formed, are in strange
positions and alien situations, isolated and distant from each other and from the viewer. The gaze, a look back or
simply a suggestion of undisclosed secrets, is at the heart of these constellations. They will never be able to find one
another because they remain within the world created by the work and cannot break out of the image.
Uta Reinhardt was born in Bielefeld in 1966. She studied with Hermann Albert at the Braunschweig University of Art.
Her work is represented in numerous German and international collections.
